I haven’t worn a denim skirt since college so I don’t know why I got it in my head that I really wanted to make a denim Hollyburn, but I did. When I was looking for fabric for my Hollyburn the first time I initially looked for denim also, but the fabric store I went to didn’t have any. I forgot about my denim Hollyburn dreams until I went looking for some fabric for baby sewing and spotted some Robert Kaufman denim and figured I should snag some, which I did. Then that denim sat in my stash for a couple months until I decided it was Hollyburn time. This time I made the mid length view with the button tabs in a size 2. The skirt sewed up pretty quickly and I didn’t really have any issues. I finished the skirt by machine stitching the hem using that gold thread they use in jean hems and sewing on some wooden buttons from my button stash (no idea where I got them; I’ve been hoarding buttons for years).
I wasn’t too sure about the skirt after I finished it. I mean it kind of gave me a 70s schoolteacher vibe, but I have worn it a couple times and I think it will be a nice basic piece for Fall.
Oh, I really like this on you 🙂 It looks a really good quality denim too.
Thanks! I think it is Robert Kaufman denim? It is very lightweight.
It does look really nice on you, very good fit and the style suits you. Great denim too.
Thanks! I really like the Hollyburn pattern (I already made another one)
